DBT Skills Group for Adolescents

Thursdays

5:30-7:00 pm

In person

Dialectical Behavior Skills Group (DBT skills group) for teens currently meets in person at our office.  DBT empowers teens to:

 

  •  Learn and practice life-saving skills to manage ordinary and extraordinary problems.

  • Enhance one's ability to manage difficult and painful emotions and thoughts.

  • Improve relationships with others and improve self-esteem, self-compassion, and self-worth.  

  • Decrease symptoms of depression, anxiety, impulsivity, and behaviors of self-harm and suicide.  

  • Learn how to cope with oppressive and invalidating environments to live a fulfilling and affirming life.

** Please Note:  If your needs cannot be met through one of the above options, we still offer individual sessions for any of the skills listed under our services. If  you are more interested in the group format, give us a call, we can form groups of any kind based on interest.  

Parent training for Disruptive Behavior

Tuesdays

5:30-7:00 pm

Parent Training for Disruptive Behavior is designed to help parents/guardians learn strategies designed to reduce your child's problem behaviors such as tantrums, noncompliance, aggression, and self-injurious behaviors, as well as improve daily living skills such as getting dressed, bathing, and brushing teeth.  Topics include the following:  

  • How to prevent problem behaviors from occurring

  • How to follow a daily routine that will increase predictability in your child's schedule

  • How to reinforce the appropriate behavior you hope to see more of

  • How to respond when problem behavior occurs

  • How to teach your child new skills

  • How to make sure all the positive change that occurs in your in your child's behavior over the course of the program continues over time and extends to different people and situations

The training will last 12 weeks and is based on the evidence based program designed by The RUBI Autism Network.

  •  Learn and practice life-saving skills to manage ordinary and extraordinary problems.

  • Enhance one's ability to manage difficult and painful emotions and thoughts.

  • Improve relationships with others and improve self-esteem, self-compassion, and self-worth.
